Megan Scutt is an Australian cricketer who plays as a medium-fast bowler for the national team. In domestic cricket, she represents the South Australian Scorpions in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) and the Adelaide Strikers in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Highlights of her career include taking a hat-trick in WT20Is during the 2017–18 India Women’s Tri-Series, after which she became the first cricketer to take a hat-trick for Australia. He had his primary education at Hackham West Primary School and then went to Virenda High School. She used to actively participate in sports day competitions during her school days. Talking about this in an interview, he said,
Sports day was my favorite day because I kicked ass. I’ll beat the boys, I’ll beat the girls. I think I still hold the shot-put record in Virenda.”
Raised in Hackham West, her cricket journey began at the age of 11 when she applied for a Seaford club match. Recalling that incident in an interview, he said,
We used to play street cricket and we used whatever we could find – a tennis racket, anything – and one day, they needed someone for a club game in Seaford. In that game, I was bowled on the very first ball, but I also took a wicket on my very first ball.
There, she was spotted by someone who was forming a girls’ team and was invited to join. Soon after he was discovered by a SAPSASA scout, and soon after, he started playing for the Flinders University Cricket Club. At the age of 13, she was playing district cricket for Sturt Cricket Club, where her teammates included Australian cricketer Shelley Nitschke. Subsequently, he followed the state path through under-15, under-17 and under-19. After completing school, he was encouraged to pursue tertiary education through the Australian Cricketers’ Association. She took a one-year nursing degree before dropping out.

In 2009, Schutt made his debut for the SA Scorpions at the age of 16. In the 2015–16 Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) season, Megan Schutt was the leading wicket-taker with 14 dismissals. In 2018, she was named captain of the Scorpions following previous captain Tegan McFarlin’s decision to step down.

On 17 December 2012, he made his ODI debut against New Zealand at North Sydney Oval, Sydney during the Rose Bowl 2012/13. She was part of Australia’s squad for the 2013 Women’s Cricket World Cup, in which Australia became champions after defeating West Indies by 114 runs in the final. During the World Cup, Schutt appeared in all seven of Australia’s matches, taking 15 wickets. Schutt opened the bowling for Australia in the final against the West Indies; He took 2 wickets for 38 runs in the match. His best bowling performance for Australia included three wickets for 40 runs, which he took in the World Cup group match against New Zealand. On 22 January 2013, she made her T20I debut against New Zealand at the Junction Oval, Melbourne during the 2012/13 New Zealand Women tour of Australia. In 2018, she became the world number one player. 1st ranked T20 women bowler after the T20I triangular series played in India. Australia emerged as champions of the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20, with Megan Schutt the leading wicket-taker with 10 dismissals. During the 2019 Australia Women tour of West Indies, Schutt became the first Australian bowler to take a hat-trick in WODIs during the third match on 11 September 2019. With her hat-trick in Women’s ODI, she also became the first woman bowler to take two hat-tricks in international cricket. At the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Schutt emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 13 dismissals, including taking 4/18 in the final against India.

On 9 March 2020, the ICC included Schutt in its team of the tournament. Schutt was named in Australia’s squad for the Women’s Ashes 2021–22. She was part of the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup squad for Australia, which won the title for the seventh time by defeating England in the final. On 3 February 2022, Schutt took her 100th wicket in women’s ODI cricket when she dismissed England opening batsman Lauren Winfield-Hill. She took her 100th wicket in WT20I cricket in the 4th WT20I against Ireland on 21 July 2022, during the 2022 Ireland Women Triangular Series. She was part of the Australia team that won the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title after which she was named in the Team of the Tournament by the ICC.
