Megan Hilty’s sister, brother-in-law and child died in a plane crash. Lauren, Megan’s sister Ross Mickel and their baby Remy were on board the plane that crashed in Puget Sound near Whidbey Island, Washington on September 4, 2022. Lauren was nine months pregnant when she died. In an interview with King 5, Mickel’s family said:
“We are heartbroken and saddened by the passing of dear Ross Mickel, Lauren Hilty, Remy and their unborn son Luca.” Our shared pain is indescribable.”
When the seaplane crashed, a search team was dispatched to locate all the missing passengers and pilots. The search was suspended on Monday, September 5, 2022, when a dead body was discovered. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.

All about Megan Hilty
Megan Hilty, born March 29, 1981, is best known for her roles in the Broadway musical, the musical-drama series Smash, and the NBC comedy Sean Saves the World. At the age of 12, Hilty began taking vocal lessons and became interested in opera. She attended Bellevue’s Sammamish High School and Redmond’s Washington Academy of Performing Arts High School.
She later attended Chrysalis School in Woodinville. Megan graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a BA in Theater in 2004. After graduating from college, she auditioned for the film Wicked and made her Broadway debut as Glinda the Good Witch studying under Jennifer Laura Thompson. in 2004. She took on the role of Thompson in 2015 and continued to perform on 2006-2009.
She later performed in the musical Vanities at the Mountain View Performing Arts Center in Mountain View, California.
