A live-action adaptation based on the blonde barbarian, popularized as part of Mattel toys, is in serious talks with Adam and Aaron Nee’s Amazon MGM Studios, the writing and directing team behind it. The lost Cityvia Variety.

Netflix spent nearly $30 million developing the project, which was intended to star Kyle Allen. The streamer folded when the budget, originally set at more than $200 million, could not be significantly reduced, via Variety.
Talks with Amazon are “tenuous, warns another source,” but if the studio moves forward, it will need to strike new deals with the Nees for a script and to direct.
Kyle is “still in the mix” to play He-Man. Mattel and producer Todd Black will also look for a significant theatrical release.
