Mary Nicosia and her husband, Dr. Nicholas Nicosia, were recently fined for hosting an allegedly racist June 16 party on July 7 at their 9,000-square-foot home on East Avenue. Courtyard decor includes June 16-themed posters and cardboard panels featuring President Donald Trump, while the menu includes Kentucky Fried Chicken and Hennessy Cognac. After Jerrod Jones, an African-American firefighter, filed a lawsuit against the city and the fire department after his supervisor, Captain Jeffrey Krywy, escorted him to the event on duty, the group was widely condemned.
Krywy should have been fired for his actions, but he resigned before the investigation could be completed. The police department also said all officers attending the celebration will be disciplined. Amid the growing problem, Mary Nicosia and her husband held a press conference at the Hilton Garden Inn in Pittsford to clarify their identities. Although the former has defended the couple, insisting the party was not intended to be racist, Nicosia admitted she had previously made racist comments on Twitter.

Mary Nicosia is a real estate agent and former vice president of development for The Landmark Society of Western New York. She is the wife of Dr. Nicholas Nicosia, vice chair of the board of directors of Highland Hospital and team dentist for the Rochester American hockey club. Nicosias is one of the most popular couples in Rochester and is widely known for its high status. According to property records, the couple paid $650,000 for their East Avenue home and moved there in 2000.
In a letter to the editors of Democracy and Chronicle more than a year later, Mary Nicosia condemned the situation in the city. She stated:
“My husband and I chose to raise our children in Rochester while also renovating a historic property on East Avenue.” We appreciate city life and all it has to offer, but our friends in suburban development think we’re crazy.”
Nicosia continued:
“Crime, the poor state of the education system, taxes, and now the tax plan.” “I’m starting to believe our friends are right.”
Mary Nicosia and her husband are clearly involved in a number of powerful organizations and have demonstrated their support for professional sports teams as well as political initiatives. According to reports, the couple often donates to both Democratic and Republican politicians.
They also gave $1,131 to Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign and $497 to political action group Make America Great Again, according to public records. They also contributed to the campaigns of Republican Senator Len Morello and Republican City Council candidate Marcus C. Williams.

“I also want to apologize to the African-American community and to other individuals in the community that I may have hurt or offended by doing what I did on Twitter because of these statements.”
The woman went on to say that she grew up in a “very diverse neighborhood” in East Cleveland and was “not a racist.” However, she must take responsibility for her actions:
“I consider myself responsible. I feel embarrassed. It’s not easy for me to come here and tell you this. And please accept my sincere apology.”
Nicosia also said she considered her behavior and decided to stay away from her racist online character:
“In the previous 12 busy days, I learned a lot.” And I’ve learned that posting a statement on Twitter behind a pseudonym is just as inappropriate and painful as talking directly to someone in the room. And I believe it was a lesson learned for me and I believe that others can benefit from it.”
Although Mary Nicosia did not reveal her Twitter account name, many people speculated that she goes by the name @HoHoHomeBoyRoc and has various nicknames such as “Colonel Nathaniel Sanders” with the profile picture being “Smilin’ Sam from Alabam’ The Salted Peanut Man.”
According to reports, this Twitter account has been active since November 2021 and has mocked African-Americans online, including politicians, elected officials, and journalists, often using native black English.
Twitter scolds Mary Nicosia for racist scandal

Mary Nicosia’s attorney, Corey Hogan, acknowledged that his client’s Twitter account was “racist, wrong, and evil,” but argued that the woman “didn’t live her life” or “treat others” as her online personality.
