After three decades on the ABC network, DWTS is coming to Disney+. The dance competition will kick off on September 19 and will feature a diverse group of celebrities from various fields competing for the Mirrorball Cup. Tyra Banks and former Mirrorball champion Alfonso Riberio will present the latest episode of the series. In an interview with People about DWTS, Alfonso said:
“To be invited to co-host with Tyra and be part of an amazing team, dancers and friends…
It’s an honor to be on stage with them and to be part of that family again.”
Jason Lewis, who plays Samantha Jones’ love interest, Smith Jerrod, on HBO’s Sex and the City is among the celebrities who will be competing on DWTS. She will compete with professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd, as well as co-stars Selma Blair, Trevor Donovan, Cheryl Ladd and Daniel N. Durant. Lewis proposed to longtime partner Liz Godwin in 2019, despite their 20-year age gap. She also influenced the actor’s choice to star in Dancing with the Stars.

How did Liz Godwin convince Jason Lewis to compete on DWTS?
Jason Lewis is set to compete on DWTS and fans can thank his girlfriend for it. When asked about the project, the actor was initially apprehensive and said that a number of things led to his decision to accept, but the biggest reason was Liz Godwin. In an interview with People, the actor spoke about DWTS and stated:
“I always say no because I consider it reality TV and I’m not interested.”
Liz advised him to “be a little less stubborn” and watch the seasons before he gets a chance. The couple first met in Miami about 7 years ago and have come a long way since then. Just before sunset, the actor proposed to his producer girlfriend on a cliff. She was surprised and did not expect an offer. She said she was “flooded with emotions and feelings” that she wasn’t aware of.
Lewis confirmed his Valentine’s Day engagement via Instagram, writing:
“December 27, 2019, I proposed to the woman of my dreams, making me the luckiest guy in the world.”
Liz also posted on the social media platform:
“The cats are out of the bag, and I’m going to spend the rest of my life with this guy.”
Liz (31) and Jason (51) have a 20 year age difference but age is just a number for this couple. When asked about their relationship, the bride described it as “light, fun and constantly evolving”. She continued to say,
“He’s been my pillar of strength and the unshakable belt of my life. We have no illusions or expectations of each other. And we don’t feel we own each other.”
When Jason decided whether or not to compete on DWTS, he described Liz as a “great supporter”. He also revealed that his future bride is a huge fan of the show and is very excited about his date. According to Jason, Liz has a list of people she hopes her husband will associate with, and Peta is one of them.
He declared:
“It’s great because she not only keeps me updated, but it’s also great to have someone to share it with people who are super excited.”
Jordin Sparks, Gabby Windey, Vinny Guadagnino, Teresa Giudice, Shangela, Charli D’Amelio, Heidi D’Amelio, Wayne Brady, Jessie James Decker, Joseph Baena and Sam Champion are the other celebrities who will join DWTS.
