Martin Scorsese reveals the two movies Robert De Niro stopped starring in

Martin Scorsese looks back on his long friendship with Robert De Niro.

Over the years, the longtime collaborators have worked together on a number of films, including Taxi driver, good boys, the Irishand more recently flower moon killers.

In a new interview, Martin, 80, revealed the two movie roles he had offered Robert, 79, but turned down.

While speaking with Deadline, Martin revealed that he approached Robert to star in deceased people and New York gangs.

“We talked to Bob about it, but he didn’t want to do it,” Martin recalled of deceased people. “‘What’s happening deceased people?’ ‘Nah, I don’t want to do that.’ ‘OK.'”

“I didn’t work with Bob for 10 years until we did good boysMartin continued. We left in different directions. Then we did another two, three movies. And then for another 19 years, we didn’t.”

He added: “So, with Bob, after casino we stopped for a while and I did kundun and bringing the dead. And then New York gangs. We always check in, about that and everything else.”

As to why Robert turned down New York gangsMartin said: “That was just a record. He literally said, ‘What are you doing?’ ‘I’m doing this. Are you interested?’ ‘No.’ ‘OK.’ We always talked about that kind of thing, because he’s the only one who knows where I come from and who I am, from that time when we were 15 or 16 years old. He knows that part of New York. It was all instinct between us and his courage and his humility, in terms of how he would say, ‘If a scene plays on my back, that’s fine, but if it plays better on the other person’s face, play it.’”

Martin also revealed that he was approached by Robert to direct the 2002 film. analyze thatwhich ultimately ended up being directed by Harold Ramis.

“He wanted me to do analyze this, and I said, ‘We already did it. Was good boys‘” Martin said. “I talked to him about other projects, and at one point he said, ‘You know the kind of thing I like to do with you.’ I said it’s okay. that became the Irish, and it took nine years. We were always looking.”

Martin added: “Now, that was a certain period of time. Do you still think like that, 10 years later? Turns out he did! But is it old Bob? No. You have to see where they are.
