The 72-year-old actor played Leroy Jethro Gibbs for 19 seasons, before bidding farewell to the long-running series in 2021.

Mark recently spoke about what initially intrigued him about the TV role and how the series creator almost changed his character’s name to something very different.

“I read ‘Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ and thought, ‘Hey, I like that name,'” he said. Eastern Time of what sparked his interest. “And then, for a brief second, when I decided I liked the idea of ​​the project, the name changed.”
