“It was something complex and painful to accept. We all feel it, that pain and that sadness. “That all seemed like a strange breakup and I wasn’t prepared for it,” Leigh-Anne wrote about Jesy’s departure from the group.

“I was not prepared for the intensity of those emotions. “Everything was abrupt and sad and then it became complicated, which made it even more painful.”

She also added that after Jesy started her solo career, Leigh-Anne found the comments on social media to be “really horrible”, and even if she tried to avoid them by not going on social media, she still had underlying anxiety.

In her book, Leigh-Anne shared how all the girls had become a family and found Jesy’s departure traumatizing and all had to go to therapy afterwards.

“I have gone to therapy over the course of my career. When we decided to take Little Mix on hiatus, I felt compelled to come back. We all did,” she shared.

“We were a family, the four of us were like sisters and had been since adolescence, so it is not an exaggeration to say that losing a member was a traumatic experience,” she added. “When you’ve felt so much love and support for another person for so long and then it suddenly disappears and you never fully understand why, it hurts.”

“Therapy helped me, it helped all of us, to process what had happened and deal with the emotions that came with it,” Leigh-Anne said. “All that disorder is now so far behind that it is not even worth commenting on. “We have moved toward something even brighter and stronger.”
