In June 1, 1955, KS Premkumar, also known as Kochu Preman, was born in Valiyavila, Thiruvananthapuram, India. He was born to his father named Shivaramam Shastri and his mother named TS Kamaam.

Kochu Preman started his work through the Kerala, Kalidasa Kalakendram and Sanghachethana Theatres. Thus, she began her career as a theater artist. In 1996, she appeared in her debut film Dilliwala Rajakumaran. The film also had Manju Warrier and Jayaram in the lead roles. He therefore has acted in around 250 movies and was known for his comedic roles for more than 25 years.
