Inside the life of Vanessa Kirby

He went on to act in a number of plays, including Christopher Marlowe’s Edward II and Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire.

She cemented her position as a great stage actress when she played the role of Helena in Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya. Variety’s Matt Trueman described her performance;

He appeared in several minor roles before moving on to major supporting roles.

Vanessa made her television debut in 2011 on BBC’s Time. She then went on to play Estella in the BBC adaptation of high expectations with Douglas Booth and Gillian Anderson.

The show’s directors chose Vanessa to play the role of Queen Margaret after searching for her for six months. According W Magazine, Kirby was originally cast to play the role of a civilian. vanessa said W Magazine;

“I was walking down the street and it hit me: I think it might be Princess Margaret. She is the playful one, the fun one, the wild one, but she has this vulnerability and fragility.”

She decided to audition for the role and the directors chose her. However, she told Seth Meyers that she almost botched her audition. Kirby told Seth Meyers that the industrial tan applied to her ankles stood out more than the audition itself;

“The four directors and Peter fell right on my ankles because I was wearing this skirt and they looked at them for a few minutes while I was trying to get into character… and at the end, Peter said, ‘What happened to your legs?'”

The fake tan turned the color of her ankles a luminous orange. Vanessa got the part of her, but the screenwriter, Peter Morgan, told her that her mistake of falsely tanning herself almost cost him the part of her. Fake tan is a big no for Kirby after that incident.

His role in ‘The crown‘ made her more sympathetic to the Royals

Kirby played the role of Princess Margaret in the series. Princess Margaret was a rebel of the Royal Family who refused to abide by the strict rules set for the Royal Family. She was a party girl, chain smoker, and wanted to marry a divorced man.

Her role exposed her to the personal lives of the royal family, which they usually keep under wraps. She used to criticize the Royals, but now she understands them more. She told Vogue Australia that she enjoyed playing the role of the rebel princess;

“It’s pretty rare that you find something where you can literally have an absolute ball doing it, as well as the hard stuff and the pain. When I met her through research, I fell in love with her and wanted to do her justice.”

Her relationship with Callum Turner ended due to the couple’s busy schedule.

Vanessa and Callum Turner called it quits in February 2020. A source who spoke to Sun stated that the couple had drifted apart due to their busy schedules. The source explained:

“As their careers have taken off, their relationship has suffered and they have gradually drifted apart. It’s very sad since they were once so close. Last year they made the difficult decision to go their separate ways and they don’t think it’s for the best. It’s all very friendly, things just weren’t working out.”

Vanessa began dating Turner in 2017. Turner is known for his role as Theseus Scamander on Fantastic. Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Bill Rohan in queen and country. Kirby had previously dated Douglas Booth and Christian Cooke.

There were rumors that Vanessa was dating Tom Cruise after a paparazzi photo surfaced showing the two kissing. The tabloids reported that Tom and Vanessa were getting married. In between filming movies, Vanessa works for charity. She has worked with the UK charity, War Child, and described her experience to Marie Claire;

“Honestly, it has changed my life; It’s everything I’ve ever wanted. And that is not a question of martyrs. It’s more exciting and fulfilling than any acting job I can get.”

She also volunteered at an AIDS hospice during her time in Africa.
