Kiran Kumar was born on 20 October 1953 (age 65 years; as in 2018) in Mumbai. His zodiac sign is Libra. Kiran did his schooling from The Daly College, Indore and went to RD National College, Bandra, Mumbai to complete his graduation. After completing her graduation, Kiran joined the Film and Television Institute of India (FTTI), Pune, to pursue an acting course.

Kiran Kumar belongs to a Kashmiri Hindu family. He is the grandson of Wazir-e-Wazarat of Gilgit. His father Jeevan Kumar was an Indian actor. There is not much information about his mother. Kiran has a brother, Bhushan Jeevan and two sisters, Nikki Jeevan, Rikki Ugra.

He is married to former Gujarati actress, stylist and consultant, Sushma Verma. The couple have two sons, Shaurya Kumar, an actor, and Vikas Kumar. They also have a daughter, Srishti Kumar, who runs the jewelery and clothing label “Shish & Shish”.

Kumar started his acting career in 1960 by playing a small role in “Love in Shimla”. However, his debut as a lead actor came in 1974 with the film “Azad Mohabbat”. Kiran saw her career decline after the release of films like “Jungle Mein Mangal” and chose to work in Gujarati films after the recession. He soon rose to fame in the Gujarati film industry and earned the title “Bachchan of Gujarati Cinema”. Rakesh Roshan brought him back to Hindi cinema with his film “Khudgarj”, after which he appeared in negative roles in films like “Tezaab” and “Khuda Gawah”. His portrayals in negative roles won him many accolades.

Kiran also acted in several TV serials including “Zindagi,” “Ghutan,” “Sahil,” “Manzil,” “Grihasthi,” “Katha Sagar,” “Aur Phir Ek Din,” “Papa,” “Milli,” Is. And Another Day,” and “Agneepath.” He is a core committee member of CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes Association). He was part of ‘Superstar Ka Jalwa’, an event that brought together the entire Hindi film and television industry to raise funds for CINTAA.
