Kim Soo-hyun has announced that he is in talks to play the lead role in Queen of Tears (literal translation), a new drama series written by playwright The Stars Brought You, Park Ji- eun. If the actor accepts the role, it will be their third collaboration and fans are extremely excited. They have previously collaborated on My Love From The Star and The Producers, both of which are huge blockbusters with K-drama fans everywhere.
Gold medal winner Hyuna’s agency Kim Soo revealed on November 4 that the actor has received an official letter to appear in Queen Of Tears. It was reported that the It’s Okay Not To Be actor would reunite with Park Ji-eun for another show in April 2022. However, this was unconfirmed at the time and the management company. His just confirmed the news recently.
Furthermore, they claim:
“Kim Soo Hyun has received and is currently negotiating a casting offer for ‘Queen of Tears’.”
Whether he will appear or not is yet to be determined. However, with the popularity of Producer and The Star Brings him in, the new film is sure to capture the attention of viewers even before its premiere.

Kim Soo-hyun, who last appeared on screen in 2021 with An Ordinary Day, may soon return with a new drama series created by Park Ji-eun. Not much information has been revealed about the movie. The story will be written by Park Ji-eun, who previously wrote The Producers, Crash Landing On You, Legends of the Blue Sea and My Husband Got A Family.
The film will be directed by Lee Eung-bok and Kim Hee-won. Fans of Mr. Sunshine, Goblin, Jirisan and Descendants of the Sun, as well as the first two seasons of Sweet Home, are recognizable from the former. Meanwhile, the film will be directed by Vincenzo, Little Women, The Crowned Clown and Soundtrack #1.
The cast is a surprise for fans as the lead roles are yet to be confirmed. Park Eun-bin, the female lead, has accepted the offer and is currently rumored to appear on the show. The actress rose to fame after playing an autistic lawyer in Extraordinary Lawyer Woo. Kim Soo-hyun made his acting debut in the 2007 family comedy Kimchi Cheese Slice. He rose to fame with his role in the 2011 film Dream High.
Since then, he has amassed millions of fans who binge-watch his iconic K-dramas, such as Crazy Stars, Moon Embracing the Sun, Father’s House, An ordinary day and other movies. In addition to being the highest-paid actor, he’s also a two-time Grand Bell Award winner. He was appointed as the Seoul Goodwill Ambassador in 2014.
