Subhasis Talapatra is an Indian lawyer who has held several important positions in the High Courts of Orissa, Tripura and Guwahati. He came into limelight in July 2023 when the Supreme Court Collegium recommended his name for the post of Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.

Subhasis Talpatra was born on Wednesday, 4 October 1961 (age 61 years; as in 2022) in Udaipur, Tripura, India. His zodiac sign is Libra. After completing his schooling, he joined the University of Calcutta, where he earned Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BA LLB) degrees.

On 12 September 1990, Subhasis Talpatra became a member of the Bar Councils of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. Even though he was authorized to practice law in any northeastern state, he represented his clients in civil, constitutional and criminal cases mainly in the Agartala bench of the Gauhati High Court. On 21 December 2004, he was appointed as a senior advocate in the Gauhati High Court. On 15 November 2011, he took oath and became an additional judge of the Gauhati High Court. He was appointed as a permanent judge of the Tripura High Court on 13 September 2013. He has served as the acting Chairman of Tripura State Legal Services Authority since 2017. Additionally, he has also held the position as the Chairman of the Juvenile Justice Committee. Chairman of the Computer Committee and e-Court Project, Chairman of the Committee for Establishment of National Law University and Member of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal since 2018. From 2 November 2018 to 13 November 2018, he served as acting premier. Judge of Tripura High Court. He was once again appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court on 11 November 2019; He served in this post till 15 November 2019. On 10 June 2022, he was sworn in as a judge of the Orissa High Court.
The Supreme Court collegium forwarded Talapatra’s name as recommendation for the post of Chief Justice of Orissa High Court in July 2023.

As per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), the salary of a High Court judge is Rs. It is estimated to happen. Rs.2,25,000 + other allowances.

- From 10 September 2018 to 14 September 2018, he participated in Counterterrorism Phase-II training as part of the Faculty Exchange Program in Washington, DC and Orange County, California.
