How did the notion for a children’s book first enter your head?
Sasha: Because of my involvement with the fantastic program The Voice Kids, I’ve had a lot of contact with kids. Additionally, I co-wrote the music for “Vogelhochzeit” and “The School of Magical Animals” with Rolf Zuckowski. Simply put, working with or helping children is wonderful. For a very long time, we have been yearning to do something together. But we never seemed to have the appropriate thought. Julia Roentgen: My partner and I frequently discuss the day’s events at our creative table and generate fresh concepts. Then, till three in the morning, we sat there and created the world for the book. After that, I just typed everything into a Word document. We asked Carlsen Verlag if they were interested by contacting them. Thus, a chain of events culminated in the publication of our book.
It might be challenging to cooperate as a couple. Did you experience issues?
Sasha: We have a great rapport and are a well-oiled team. Of course, we have disagreements, but we always work them out fast. When something doesn’t turn out the way we expect it to, we frequently become unhappy with one another. In addition to being my manager, Julia is also quite familiar with my personality. Although she is excellent at managing me, it’s definitely not that simple. And because it was so enjoyable, this endeavor was actually very stress-free.
We also had an excellent division of tasks, according to Julia Roentgen. Together, we created the ideas and personalities, but after that, we all sort of went our separate ways. He composed the soundtrack for the tales I penned. Of course, we were constantly in touch.
