Alberto Aguilera Valadez, better known as Juan Gabriel, was born on January 7, 1950, in Parácuaro, Michoacán, Mexico, to parents Victoria Valadez Rojas and Gabriel Aguilera Rodrguez. He began singing at a young age and wrote his first song when he was 13 years old. He used to sing in the church choir and help clean the church.

La Prieta Linda assisted Juan Gabriel in obtaining a recording contract with RCA Victor. ‘El Alma Joven…’ was his debut studio album, released in 1971. It featured the smash hit “No Tengo Dinero.” The albums ‘El Alma Joven Vol.II,’ ‘El Alma Joven Vol.III,’ and ’10 Éxitos de Juan Gabriel’ followed.
He released the albums A Mi Guitarra,’ ‘Te Llegará Mi Olvido,’ ‘Siempre en Mi Mente,’ ‘Espectacular,’ ‘Mis Ojos Tristes,’ and ‘Me Gusta Bailar Contigo’ in the 1970s. His 1980s albums include ‘Recuerdos,’ ‘Ella,’ ‘Con Tu Amor,’ ‘Cosas De Enamorados,’ ‘Todo,’ and ‘Pensamientos.’
