In his second professional fight in the US, he fought on the Juan Manuel Márquez-Juan Díaz II pay-per-view undercard at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and scored a fifth-round knockdown.
He was also able to fight for the vacant WBC lightweight title against Antonio DeMarco at the Staples Center on October 15, 2011.
