Olivia Wilde described how she played Chris Pine in Don’t Worry, Darling about Canadian clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson in an interview with Interview Magazine. During the interview, Wilde made the following comments:
“We modeled Chris Pine after this madman, Jordan Peterson, the pseudo-intelligence idol of the incel movement.”
However, this teasing aimed at Peterson upset Jordan and his daughter Mikhaila Peterson, who stood up to their father’s defense.
What exactly does the word Incel mean?
Wilde defines the term “incel” as a community of “disenfranchised white men who primarily feel entitled to sexual favors from women.” Merriam Webster defines incel as follows:
“a person (usually a man), who considers himself or herself to be single unwittingly and often shows great hatred and hostility towards sexually active people.”
According to the website, in recent years, men who self-identify as “incels” have expressed hatred for women for denying them physical intimacy.
Olivia Wilde had this to say about Jordan Peterson.
Olivia Wilde says that Canadian clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson influenced the role of Chris Pine in Don’t Worry, Darling in an interview with actress and director Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Wilde expanded on the idea of an “incel community”, saying:
“They think society has now stolen them – that the concept of feminism goes against nature and we have to get back to where we are.”
Furthermore, Olivia Wilde mocked Peterson, his career, and his looks. According to the director:
“This Jordan Peterson man is legitimizing some elements of their movement because he’s a former professor, a writer and he dresses up, so they feel it’s an ideology. legitimacy should be respected.”
Jordan Peterson and daughter Mikhaila Peterson reacted to Olivia Wilde’s comments after they went viral online. Peterson, 60, gave Wilde an interview with the National Post while discussing the role of Pine based on him. The author describes Chris Pine as a “great guy”, adding:
“I also hope that Chris Pine will do justice to the brilliance in my very formal wardrobe as he imposes me on the latest piece of propaganda spread by thugs and peasants. popular, self-righteous people who now rule Hollywood and who insist that production of such scum is banned.”
His daughter, Mikhaila Peterson, spoke about Olivia Wilde’s comments to her father in an interview with the Opposition Opinion podcast. Mikhaila said this while playing a tape from The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, in which her father criticizes the incel mentality:
“Don’t worry dear, because my father is said to be the king of incels… My father is not an incel supporter.”
Jordan was also offended by the term “fake intellectual” in Mikhail’s Instagram video. He mentioned:
“By far, I am the most talked about psychologist in the department of the University of Toronto.”
While Wilde didn’t react to Jordan and Mikhaila Peterson’s reaction, her film Don’t Worry Darling had a good debut at the Venice Film Festival. Wilde along with Harry Styles, Florence Pugh and Chris Pine attended the event.
