John Stamos remembers his divorce from Rebecca Romijn.

In case you didn’t know, John and Rebecca married in 1998 and divorced in 2005.
“My first marriage was devastating for me. “I was broken for too long too,” John shared with People. “I mean, one year, okay, okay. But she continued [for] years and years”.
“In my mind back then, she was the devil and I just hated her,” John admitted. “I couldn’t believe how much I hated her and it ruined my life. Looking back, and talking about it. [in the book], because it’s one of the steps in AA where the fourth step is to expose all your complaints, everything that people did to you. I say, ‘None.'”
Eventually, John said he realized he had “some part” in his and Rebecca’s separation, saying, “You start to think, it’s like, ‘Oh, she wasn’t the Devil. Maybe I was as much to blame as she was.’”
John went on to say that from his perspective, he felt that Rebecca “was trying to make it work because she cared” about him before they eventually broke up.
“It was very public and very painful,” John added. “I didn’t write much about it, but it’s difficult.”
He continued: “The general opinion was that she left me because her career was going very well and mine wasn’t, and that’s humiliating. I don’t blame her for that. It was just people’s perception, and maybe they weren’t wrong. “She was very well at the time and I was not.”
After their split, John admitted that his healing process “wasn’t healthy.”
“That’s when I really started drinking a lot,” John remembers. “But without that, I would never have known what true love is, and I would never have set out to get someone like that.” [current wife] caitlin [McHugh] in my life.”
John, who has been sober for eight years, married Caitlin in 2018 and they share their 5-year-old son Billy. Rebecca has been married to Jerry O’Connell since 2007 and they share twin daughters, Charlie and Dolly, 14.
“If I hadn’t gone through all those things, all the heartaches, I wouldn’t be who I am today,” John said. “That’s what I hope people learn.”
Last year, Rebecca shared some very strange comments about her “fun” marriage to John.
