Dinesh Phadnis (1966–2023) was an Indian actor and writer who worked predominantly in the Hindi film and television industries. He is best known for playing the role of Inspector Fredericks aka Freddy in the TV series CID broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television. He died on 5 December 2023 due to multiple organ failure.

Dinesh Phadnis appeared in the 1993 Marathi film ‘Bharala Ha Malavat Raktan’. He made his Bollywood debut with the Aamir Khan starrer ‘Sarfarosh’ (1999), in which he played the role of SI Crime Branch.
In 2000, he played a small role in the song ‘Mela Dilon Ka’ from the film ‘Mela’. He appeared as an officer in the film ‘Officer’ in 2001. He also appeared in the film ‘Super 30’ starring Hrithik Roshan. Apart from working as an actor, he has also worked as a screenwriter for a Marathi film and a few Hindi films.

Dinesh Phadnis died on 5 December 2023 around 12 am at Tunga Hospital in Mumbai due to multiple organ failure. His last rites were performed on 5 December 2023 at 10:30 am at Daulat Nagar Crematorium, Mumbai. On 4 December 2023, Dinesh Phadnis was admitted to Tunga Hospital in Mumbai, where he was undergoing treatment for liver failure and was on a ventilator. According to some reports, he had suffered a heart attack. However, Dayanand Shetty (his co-star in CID) refuted the rumors of Dinesh Phadnis suffering a heart attack and revealed that he was on a ventilator and was undergoing treatment.
