Chambers and Absolute Power star John Bird died on Saturday, December 24, at the age of 86. The satirist’s cause of death has not been revealed and his medical history is currently unknown. His agent confirmed his death at the Pendean premises in West Sussex, UK. Only family members will attend his burial and his life celebration will be held in 2023.
On Twitter, his colleagues, especially the impressionist Rory Bremner, paid their respects and condolences:

Bird is known for her roles in television series and films such as Dandy in Aspic, This, That, and the Other, The Seven-Per-Cent Solution and others.

John Michael Bird, born November 22, 1936, started his career on television in the 1960s. He has appeared in such films as That Was the Week That Was, A Very Peculiar Practice, My Father Knew Lloyd George and others. He is best known for playing Mr. Rembrandt in the BBC comedy series The Melting Pot. The show’s pilot episode aired in June 1976, and although the entire series was filmed, the remaining episodes were never released. The reason for canceling the show was never revealed, but actor and comedian Spike Milligan suggested it could have been cut because it wasn’t funny.
Bird played Raymond in an episode of the ninth season of the BBC Play for Today anthology series. From October 15, 1970 to August 28, 1984, the show aired 306 episodes.
