“I was actually contacted and asked to be on the docuseries, but I thought from my perspective, I really wanted to make sure that I was able to share my story in my own words and in my own time,” Jinger explained. “This is why I wrote Becoming Free Indeed, it was to share more of my journey from the IBLP teachings.”
IBLP, which stands for Institute of Basic Life Principles, is the non-denominational Christian organization that the Duggar family followed. Some of the IBLP’s central tenets include the home education of children, the submission and obedience of women, as well as conservative religious beliefs.
Jinger noted that she has heard quite a bit about Jill’s docuseries, adding that she is “excited to hear what [Jill] has to say, even in this documentary.”
He went on to describe the process of writing his memoirs, become truly freethat he hoped would allow him to tell his story in a “God-honoring” and “balanced” way.
The reason why I decided to write be truly free in book form was because I thought, ‘I want this to be the story of my book because that way, every time people try to figure this out, they can go back and highlight,'” Jinger said, “and [go], ‘Oh, she was also struggling with this. That’s how Jinger got over it.’”
Earlier this year, Jinger revealed the last time she spoke to her brother Josh, who is currently serving a 12-year sentence on child pornography charges. Find out what she said here.
