Drew Scheid freely admits that he wasn’t a huge fan of the genre as a kid. Even “The Wizard of Oz” annoyed him. Scheid shuts down the family VCR and heads straight to bed when the ominous Wicked Witch of the West shows up.

Drew Scheid was often invited to watch the latest spooky movies with his friends while attending Manheim Township High School. But the so-called “frightened cat” almost always says no. Two years ago, Scheid was persuaded by a friend to watch John Carpenter’s 1978 horror film “Halloween”.

He adored her, but didn’t think much of it the following year—until he auditioned and was cast in the 2018 series reboot.

Before the family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 2015, 20-year-old Scheid lived 15 years in Lancaster.

Scheid plays Oscar, a friend of Allyson’s (Andi Matichek) niece Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis, who starred in the original film), in “Halloween,” which opens October 19.

The new “Halloween” is a sequel to the original 1978 film. Michael Myers, the series’ villain, escaped from the refugee camp during transit, which is why Laurie meets him again. Written by Green and Danny McBride, “Halloween” is directed by David Gordon Green.

After his freshman year in Manheim Township, the Scheid family moved from Lancaster, where he took a series of theater classes and performed in a number of plays.

Sheid signed with the mother of one of his friends, a professional talent management agency, on the day he graduated from high school in North Carolina. In three episodes of the second season of the popular Netflix series “Stranger Things”, Scheid plays a lively student at Hawkins High School.

He appeared at an open audition for an unspecified production in September 2017. When he learned that David Gordon Green was directing the mystery film, he was delighted. “Pineapple Express,” “All the Real Girls,” and “George Washington” are just a few of Scheid’s favorite Green movies.

In the second part of October 2017, he was again invited to another audition before Green. But Scheid revealed that he had rehearsed for the wrong role just hours before the audition.
