Jessica Simpson is sharing an update on her father, Joe Simpson.

The 42-year-old designer and singer posted a birthday tribute dedicated to his daughter Maxwell, while also revealing a diagnosis.

“I felt his purpose in my life as a child and I prayed for my future daughter every day and night. I know most moms would say please go back to the time your baby turns 11, but actually I’ve known her my whole life. Reading through 30 years of conversations with God throughout my journal entries, it is apparent that Maxwell was already living within my heart and my purpose,” she continued.

“Her birthday was FRANKLIN FARM LIFE HAPPY! She told me after blowing out HER 11 candles… ‘I made a wish that was for me, for you and for the whole family.’ I told Maxi that it should be your wish and she told me ‘we have the same wishes, mom’. 3 days later, back in Cali, she heard me reading a text from my dad and asked my mom sitting next to her, ‘GiGi, if my birthday wish has already come true, can I say it out loud or do I keep it to myself?’ My mom told her to share it with everyone if she wanted, especially if it had already come true…” Jessica wrote.

“Maxwell’s birthday wish was for Papa Joe’s bone cancer treatment to work. He did it. Thank you Maxi Drew for using your wish on our family and most importantly on my dad. You are fascinating, steadfast, intelligent, passionate, generous, loving, devoted, inspiring, alluring, confident, empathetic, powerful, intuitive, beautiful, DETERMINED, enlightened, and FULL OF WONDER. A child’s faith is what keeps us all ALIVE.”

The bone cancer diagnosis comes after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016. At the time, his representative told him Eastern Time he was recovering from surgery after his diagnosis and it went well.
