Jermani Thompson lost Her Life After Her Hair Entangled On A Conveyor Belt

According to Fox, the incident happened when Jermani Thompson was carrying luggage in a so-called “apron” area near the parked plane. Thompson was picking up luggage from a Frontier Airlines flight when her hair got caught in the carousel and dragged her along. Thompson was injured and taken to hospital, where she died on Wednesday.

Jermani Thompson is an exceptional athlete.

Nicole Branch, Jermani Thompson’s sister-in-law, told NOLA that the family is investigating the circumstances of her death. However, no investigation has been launched.

Branch said:

“She went to work one morning and never came back. It’s hard to believe at the moment.”

Frontier Airlines canceled a flight on Wednesday following Thompson’s death and released a statement about the situation. According to the statement:

“We offer our sincere condolences following the tragic loss of a member of our ground service business partner.” Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this tragic time.”

Mike Hough, CEO of GAT Airline Ground Support, where Jermani Thompson worked, also confirmed her death. Hough stated:

“We are deeply saddened and are doing everything we can to help her family and friends.”

Kevin Dolliole, director of aviation at Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans, reached out for comment on Thompson’s death via WDSU. He declared:

“We are heartbroken to learn of the tragic death of GAT Airline Ground Support crew member Jermani Thompson.”

Statement reads:

“Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport sends its sincere condolences to her family and friends, as well as our partners GAT and Frontier Airlines. Jermani is part of our extended aviation family and we will continue to help each other as much as we can at this difficult time.”

Angela Dorsey, the victim’s mother, described her as a famous and brilliant athlete who attended Riverside Academy, East St. John and Hesston University in Kansas. She also attended Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

She stated:

“Basketball is her passion. She’s my daughter. Everyone adores her. I’m speechless. I’m speechless.”

In a separate interview with Fox, Dorsey said:

“She is a master of basketball; she can achieve anything you ask her to do.” What do you want from me. I just can’t believe my only daughter is no longer with us. I do not think so. Like she just said to me, “See you when I get back.”

According to Fox, Thompson left behind four brothers, among many relatives.
