Jatin Kashyap is an Indian cricket umpire who was charged with violating the anti-corruption code by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2023.

Jatin Kashyap was born in Bathinda, Punjab. He graduated from Government Rajindra College, Bathinda in 2008. He also studied Hotel Management from Columbia Business School, Singapore in 2009. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur.

In 2013, he started his career as a cricket umpire. In 2014, he started umpiring at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium. In 2016, he started working as a cricket trainer at Baba Frid College, Bathinda. He has umpired in district level matches in Punjab but was not a part of the BCCI panel. According to the ICC, since 2019, he has not officiated in district matches and has not officiated in the Punjab cricket umpiring circuit.
Facts/General Knowledge
- On 22 May 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) accused him of breaching its anti-corruption code, leading to an investigation into “International matches in 2022”. No reason was given for why the ICC did not specify the events that led to the investigation.
- In an interview, the ICC said he was charged with “failing or refusing without good reason to cooperate with an Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) investigation in relation to possible corrupt conduct under the Code… .Including (without limitation) failing.” To provide accurately and completely any information and/or documentation requested by ACU as part of such investigation (whether as part of a formal demand in accordance with paragraph 4.3 or otherwise). The second violation, according to the ICC, was “obstructing or delaying an ACU investigation into possible corrupt conduct under the Code…including (without limitation) suppressing, tampering with, or destroying any document or other information.” that may be relevant to that investigation and/or.” Which may constitute evidence of, or lead to a finding of, corrupt conduct under the Code.” Following the allegations, the ICC had given him 14 days to respond to the allegations.
