Jagrati Awasthi was born in the year 1997 (age 24 years; as in 2021) in Bhopal, India. He attended a local school in Bhopal for primary education and Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Bhopal for secondary education. He studied Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal. Awasthi, is a homeopathy doctor by profession, while her mother, Madhulata Awasthi, was a school teacher who left her job to help Jagriti prepare for the Civil Services Examination. Jagrati Awasthi was an exceptional student since childhood who used to top every examination. Apart from studies, he actively participated in various social activities including debate competitions and public speaking events. After pursuing engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Jagrati appeared for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering exam in 2016 and passed it in the first attempt, securing an All India Ranking (AIR) of 41. Since I come from a middle-class family, the thought of being financially stable is always in my mind. I always had this thought in my mind that if I did not do anything, it would be a burden on my parents. So I worked and saved for two years. When I got the job, I thought about what I was interested in. I like meeting and talking to people. Therefore, Civil Services is a platform where there will be opportunities to do this.”
Soon after leaving her job in Bhopal, Jagriti Awasthi moved to Delhi to pursue professional coaching. But COVID-19 came in her way and she came back to Bhopal, India. Not letting herself be discouraged by the impact of the pandemic, Jagriti Awasthi started taking online classes. During an interview, he explained his preparation strategy,
The first thing I did after failing the first time was to analyze where I went wrong. After this I realized that the syllabus was not completed the first time, practice was not done, revision was not done. The second time I gave one month just to understand the nature of questions and understand the syllabus thoroughly. Practiced and revised the questions again and again. During this period, I got Covid infection, but still I stood firm.
he adds,
I was feeling scared before the pre-examination in the second attempt. I started giving one mock test daily two months before the exam. In this way I practiced for the exam 60 times. So I didn’t face any problem. I believe that those who want to do UPSC should first study the subject thoroughly and when Pres comes closer, practice through mock tests.
After preparing for more than a year, Jagrati Awasthi appeared for the second time in the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination 2020 with Sociology as an optional subject. She passed both the preliminary and main examination in one go and scored a total of 1052 marks (878 in the written test and 176 in the personality test), resulting in an overall score of 51.95%. Jagruti achieved AIR 2. She was also the female topper of the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination in 2020.
