He has served as a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives from the 47th district (1999–2003) and the 34th district (2003–2011). He is an attorney at the Caprio Law Firm, which he founded with his father, Frank Caprio. He is the co-owner of the production house CityLife Productions, which produced the TV show ‘Caught in Providence’ featuring Frank Caprio’s judicial actions.

His resignation as chairman came amid a state police investigation of contracts to run concessions at three state beaches: Misquamicut, Scarborough and Roger Wheeler. In 2017, he became co-owner of the production house CityLife Productions, which produced the TV show ‘Caught in Providence’ featuring the judicial actions of Frank Caprio.
