Jagged Mind, Hulu’s new gay psychological thriller, is coming out just in time for Pride. Kelley Kali’s latest thriller will be available exclusively on Hulu on Thursday, June 15 at 12 p.m. ET. Hulu’s thriller, based on Kali’s short film First Date, tells the unsettling story of a woman trapped in a time loop after meeting a strange new lover.
Hulu has announced that following its international premiere at the Black American Film Festival in Miami Beach from June 14-18, the film will be released on Hulu’s streaming platform on June 15. 6. The movie will then be available on Disney+ globally at a later date.
Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Shannon Woodward will play key characters in Jagged Mind.
Jagged Mind follows Billie, who is suddenly haunted by bizarre visions and faints, only to find herself trapped in a series of time loops. While she doesn’t know what happened to turn her life upside down, it’s possible that the time loop is tied to her mysterious new girlfriend, Alex.
Here is the official Jagged Mind synopsis:
“When Billie starts dating a mysterious new girl, she experiences fainting spells and strange visions that make her feel like she’s reliving moments like these in her life.”
Billie is played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, while Alex, her new and mysterious girlfriend, is played by Shannon Woodward. Richardson-Sellers is a black British actress best known for her recurring role as Eva Sinclair on The CW’s The Originals and her appearances on ABC’s Of Kings and Prophets. She’s also a regular on The CW Legends of Tomorrow’s superhero show. Shannon Woodward is an American actress best known for playing Sabrina Collins on the FOX series Raising Hope and Elsie Hughes on HBO’s Westworld.
Jagged Mind was created by 20th Digital Studio, with executive producers David Worthen Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian and Jenna Cavelle. Daniela Ruiz produced it through her company Palabra Productions, with Kali and Congyu E as co-producers. The film is directed by Kelley Kali from a screenplay by Allyson Morgan.

Hulu has released some early photos for the film, but they don’t reveal anything about the story. The images are mostly close-ups of the main characters, Billie and Alex, with an ominous black light. The creepy atmosphere of a psychological thriller is contributed by the background with a hint of crimson and purple. According to the trailer, the Hulu thriller looks appealing thanks to its two main characters’ stellar performances, as well as a gripping story and mature direction.
