Sheryl Underwood’s Weight Loss Journey.
Sheryl Underwood recently revealed that she lost more than 90 pounds last year after making significant health adjustments. She told ET ahead of the show’s Season 13 premiere that she and her co-stars have begun working out together for strength and fitness. When she saw her friends and colleagues focus on their health and well-being, she decided to get involved and put in the effort on her own. Underwood continued:
“I’m glad people can tell the difference, and there will be more.”
Before embarking on her weight loss adventure, however, the TV personality had to consider her recurring health problems. Underwood said she addressed her gut health before embarking on a general fitness adventure. She faces diabetes, high blood pressure and “all the other problems women struggle with” in addition to losing weight. The media star said she feels “great” about her makeover and is looking forward to working with the co-hosts of The Talk. Apparently she’ll hit the gym with Jerry O’Connell and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila as well as jump rope with Kloots.
In an interview with People, Sheryl Underwood revealed more about her weight loss process. She says she started her journey when she weighed between 230 and 250 pounds and that her doctor ordered prediabetes and hypertension testing. Sheryl also said that she should have had weight loss surgery, but decided to try Wegovy injections instead. The FDA approved the weekly injection in June 2021 to help control appetite.
Sheryl Underwood attempted to control portion sizes and other everyday behaviors with the shot. To that, she replied that she planned to have surgery, but then she would have to “see a psychologist” and a nutritionist. She said she lost weight thanks to working with a dietitian. Although she didn’t lose much weight, she did lose enough that “insurance won’t pay for it.”
She also embraces lifestyle changes such as sleeping more, drinking more water and eating healthier foods. Underwood said she started eating more green leafy vegetables and fruits like blueberries and strawberries, as well as adding fiber to her diet.
Despite the constraints of her schedule, Sheryl Underwood increased the number of core exercises in her routine:
“Unfortunately, I work in a profession where you have to drive to work, sit down to get your hair done and do your makeup.” Sometimes I just need to get up and walk, or try to talk on the phone while I’m walking around, or I’ll do something while sitting in bed – maybe stretching a bit and exercising.”
The Beauty Store actress also said that despite her regimen, she still lives a “quality life” and can be happy with a few important changes. She said that she still eats cakes and drinks rose water but in less quantity and that she has to drink water mixed with rose water. The 59-year-old also said she is more conscious of her “puffy face” these days because it’s “not just vanity in front of the camera” but also health and fitness. Sheryl Underwood concluded that losing weight is a “great feeling” and plans to continue her path.
