During a live stream on August 8, YouTuber IShowSpeed was apparently arrested and jailed. After an unnamed person mistook him for danger, a group of Cincinnati police surrounded the content producer outside the building. Netizens couldn’t believe that an internet celebrity would be put in such a predicament.
A YouTuber appeared to have been beaten up while surrounded by police during one of his latest live shows. Swatting is a method of criminal harassment that involves tricking emergency services into sending police or emergency crews to someone else’s residence. Such activities are usually carried out when individuals submit false reports of serious illegal crimes such as bomb threats, murder, hostage taking, etc.
The YouTuber was clearly confused at the event in the video that is now going viral. Surprised he said:
“Oh my gosh, buddy! I promise I didn’t do anything wrong. I did not do anything. Oh my God!”
The cameraman continued to film the creator until he was contacted by a police officer and asked him to stop filming until the issue was resolved.
Internet users react to police crackdown on IShowSpeed
Darren Watkins Jr., better known online as IShowSpeed, has over 10.35 million followers on YouTube. The resident of Cincinnati, Ohio is known for his quirky and fiery demeanor. His live broadcasts are very popular among his followers. YouTuber who first became known for his Fortnite broadcasts. Now he has become famous for his shows NBA 2K, Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, Minecraft and Talking Tom & Friends.
His last contact with the police force took the Internet by surprise. A video of the entire incident was posted on his official YouTube page. At the time of writing, the video titled “wtf” has about two million views. In his comment area, people expressed their support and interest in the YouTuber. The 17-year-old isn’t the first streamer to be beaten by police during a live stream. Twitch broadcaster Adin Ross was in a similar situation on August 7 when gun-wielding officers stormed his apartment before his life was ended.

Adin Ross addressed the issue on Twitter on August 8. After the event, another streamer informed his audience that the content producer was fine.
In the tweet he wrote:
“I was beaten last night, it was scary.” I’m fine. I love you two. Speed is also affected; we just talked to him and he’s fine! God, we live in a sick world.”
In the linked video, he says:
“I also heard that Speed was attacked by SWAT, we live in a twisted brutal world… I just called Speed and he’s okay.”
At the time of writing, IShowSpeed has not resolved the issue.
