Deerling is a Normal- and Grass-type Deer Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that evolves into Sawsbuck after reaching a certain level. One unique characteristic of this pocket monster is its innate ability to possess different appearances depending on the region in which it resides. For instance, the Spring-themed Deerling lives in grassy areas of South Paldea, specifically within the South Province. Like the cherry blossoms that bloom in spring, the Spring Deerling has a pink coat of fur and is decorated with a yellow flower atop its head. The evolution of this Deerling into Sawsbuck is also unique, as the Spring Sawsbuck has a different-looking pair of antlers compared to other Sawsbuck variants.
Pinpointing the location of Deerling on the Paldea world map in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is simple to do, as long as Trainers know what Deerling variation they are looking for. As mentioned above, the Spring Deerling inhabits the grasslands of the South Province and can be found in multiple areas across this zone. On the other hand, the Summer-themed Deerling resides on the eastern side of Paldea in the East Province. This variant inhabits the general area between Artazon and the city of Levincia.
Finding & Evolving Deerling in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
While Summer Deerling is verdant in its appearance, the Autumn Deerling is bright orange in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. To find this variant, Trainers must search the northern portion of the West Province, specifically the grasslands between Porto Marinada and the town of Medali. Finally, the Winter Deerling has a light brown coat and lives in various areas of the North Province.
According to YouTuber Underling Blessing, One notable characteristic that every Deerling variant shares are that they inhabit grassy areas across the map. In other words, rocky mountain ranges, sandy deserts, or the snowy wastelands of Glaseado Mountain are not locations where players will encounter any Deerlings.
Once Trainers have caught the Deerling of their choice, they can evolve it into Sawsbuck by leveling the Deerling to Level 34 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This requirement is the same across all four variants of this Deer Pokémon. Moreover, it should be noted that stats or Moves do not change between these variations, as they are all the same pocket monster with the sole difference in appearance.
Spring Sawsbuck has flowers blooming on its antlers, while Summer Sawsbuck’s horns are covered with thick leaves. Autumn Sawsbuck has bushy red leaves growing atop its antlers, but Winter Sawsbuck has white antlers and special snowy tuffs of hair growing about its body. As a result, Deerling and Sawsbuck are great monster companions for mixing and matching one’s fashionable apparel in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
