In an interview on the Geo News television series “One Day with Geo”, Hira Mani talked about her weight loss story and said that her husband helped her lose her body weight. She said that her husband’s taunts proved to be inspiring for her and she reduced her body weight by 10 kg in 3 months. She said that it is okay to have a strict husband who keeps taunting his wife for being overweight and that is how a woman can stay fit. But many people got angry with his statement and criticized him. Her statement was considered insensitive and promoted body shaming.
Trolled for making irresponsible comments on Dua Zehra’s case
In April 2022, Hira Mani was heavily criticized for his comments on Dua Zahra’s case. Dua Zahra is a young girl, 17–18 years old (as of April 2022), and her parents filed a case of her kidnapping in April 2022, but it was later revealed that Dua was not kidnapped, Rather she had fled from Karachi to Punjab. And married Zaheer. Since Dua was underage, it was a case of child marriage and she was sent to a child protection centre. The next day, Hira Mani commented on social media that she does not want Dua Zahra and Zaheer to separate, for which netizens trolled her on social media. Even Barwaan Khiladi actor Khaqan Shahnawaz reacted to this and said,
The Dua Zahra case has progressed to the point where it was proven in court using DNA evidence. This is not a joke. She is a child who was kidnapped. Someone please explain this to Heera Mani.” He further said, that people like him “either need to go back to school or seek psychological help because every time they open their mouths, it hurts mankind in some way or the other!”
