Gwyneth Paltrow calls Goop’s vaginal candle a ‘strong feminist statement’

Gwyneth Paltrow explains the meaning of her popular vagina-scented candle.

During a recent Q&A on her Instagram Story, the Goop founder, 50, explained what led her to create the This Smells Like My Vagina candle, which went viral online and quickly sold out on the site. Goop website.

Gwyneth revealed that she thought the candle made “a really strong feminist statement.”

“Many women have been raised, at least in my generation, to think that there is something wrong with them or that the vagina is weird or disgusting or something to be ashamed of and that’s why sailing is supposed to be a type of punk-rock very strong. “Fuck anyone who has ever made us feel this way,” she noted.

The Oscar-winning actress added that the candle, which features notes of “cedar absolute juxtaposed with Damascus rose and ambrette seed,” was not meant to “actually smell like anyone’s vagina” and “that was the point.”

“…People tried to make it about something else, which is a shame because it was actually meant to be a strong feminist statement,” she continued. “But we don’t make the candle anymore.”
