The Santa Clara-Ivins Department of Public Safety told Insider that a boy climbed out of a window at a home owned by Jodi to get help, leading to allegations of abuse.
Local outlet Fox 13 reports that the boy ran to a neighbor’s house for help and asked for food and water. The neighbor noticed the boy had duct tape on his ankles and wrists, at which point he called the police.
The boy was later taken to a hospital where he was treated for “serious” injuries and malnutrition. According to authorities, a second child was found in the same residence “in similar physical conditions of malnutrition” and was also taken to the hospital.
Ruby reportedly filmed a YouTube video from the home just days before her arrest, leading authorities to believe she was allegedly “present in the home and aware of the abuse, malnutrition and neglect.”
Ruby is best known for running Channel 8 Passengers, which followed the lives of her husband Kevin Franke and their six children: Shari, Chad, Abby, Julie, Russell and Eve. The channel was pulled earlier this year for unknown reasons.
She and Jodie then launched the ConneXions channel, which was described as a “support group” of mothers to “help those lost and stranded in the darkness of distortion, from which stem addictions, fear, sadness and all other self-destructive behaviors.”
