Fallout 76: How to Farm Adhesive (The Easy Way)

Fans of the Fallout series are aware of the importance of crafting. While previous Fallout games included crafting mechanics that allowed players to modify and repair weapons or armor, Fallout 4 ramped up the resourcefulness of crafting. Fallout 76 emphasizes player crafting in the same way as Fallout 4. The not quite “massively multiplayer” online RPG, now populated with human NPCs, has introduced mechanics that make crafting even more essential to players’ success.

Just like crafting in Fallout 4, crafting in Fallout 76 requires certain resources. Players can gather resources throughout their adventures in Appalachia in various forms. Exploring through abandoned buildings, for instance, may turn up some duct tape or Wonderglue that can be used as adhesive. Although all resources in Fallout 76 can be helpful, adhesive is one of the most coveted due to its rarity and usefulness in crafting. Here’s how players can farm adhesive in Fallout 76.

How to Farm Adhesive in Fallout 76

Funnily enough, the best way to farm adhesive in Fallout 76 is by creating an actual farm! Once players have claimed a workbench and established their own C.A.M.P. site somewhere in the world, they will have the ability to construct a farm. Farming certain crops, harvesting them, and combining them with other ingredients at a cooking station results in a self-sustaining source of adhesive.

First, players must find and harvest three kinds of vegetables: corn, mutfruit, and tatos. Mutfruit and tatos are common throughout the wastes, with several plants being found around Flatwoods, one of the first town’s players encounter in Fallout 76. Corn is not as common as mutfruit or tatos, but it can be found with a bit of searching. A place where corn seems to be plentiful is just outside Morgantown Airport, to the north. Players must also find fertilizer to plant their crops. Fertilizer can be found throughout Appalachia near greenhouses and farms. Using one unit of a vegetable plus one unit of fertilizer allows players to plant a crop. Plant the mutfruit, corn, and tatos outside a C.A.M.P. (or two) to start a farm. Each crop takes 17 in-game hours to grow to harvest.

Next, players must combine the vegetables and purified water to create vegetable starch. Purified water can be gathered throughout the world or created with a water purifier. To make an efficient adhesive farm, players will want to create a water purifier to make clean water. Once the purifier has been constructed and simultaneously connected to a small and medium generator, it will produce two units of purified water every 12 in-game hours.

Players do not need to be an Iron Chef to cook up the last item for adhesive. Simply combining the vegetables and purified water at a cooking station creates vegetable starch. Take the vegetable starch to any workbench, scrap it, and receive four units of adhesive in return. If players keep growing their farms of vegetables and extending their setup of water purifiers, an infinite source of adhesive is possible. Players can log on to Fallout 76 every day to find new resources to make more adhesive.

Fallout 76 is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
