Omar Apollo is a Mexican-American singer who rose to fame after his single You got me it became a Spotify sensation. The song reached 20,000 views in one day after appearing on the Fresh Finds playlist. Omar’s first EP, Stereoreceived a similar reception, as did their second EP, Friends.
Touring helped Omar popularize his music, and despite resisting the urge to sign with a record label for a while, he signed a deal with Warner Records in April 2020. He released his first project under the label, apolloniusin October 2020.

Omar’s parents gave him a guitar when he was 12 years old, but he got tired of it a few years later.
Omar was born on May 20, 1997 in Hobart, Indiana to Mexican immigrant parents from Guadalajara, Jalisco. Apollo, along with his three older brothers, got used to the fact that his parents slept hungry in order to eat. He also grew up listening to Pedro Infante, Los Panchos and, despite the language barrier, The Beatles.
The music bug bit Omar during his participation in the choir of the Catholic church. At the age of 12, his parents bought him an electric guitar, but without an amplifier, the instrument was practically useless. For this reason, her parents exchanged it for an acoustic guitar. Omar learned to play the guitar through YouTube and during choir practice. However, the rigid culture of the church caused Omar to lose interest in music. He said remix:

After becoming a musical sensation, Omar’s church invited him to return to playing music that he was once forbidden to play. He is grateful for the community that raised him and the parents who sacrificed so much for Omar to succeed. Now, he can afford to take care of them. He added:
“Sometimes they didn’t eat to make us eat. You know, I eat beans every day in the morning. I never saw it like this; it was just food… being able to give back is a crazy feeling. It makes me want to work harder more than anything else. Obviously I’m very passionate about music and I love music, but now I’m like, ‘Damn, I have to take care of them.
Omar blew up after a friend gave him $30 to create a Spotify profile
After high school, Omar spent two weeks at the university before dropping out. With his attention span, he couldn’t finish college. His job at Guitar Center paid the rent, but he barely left her anything to eat. During his spare time, he immersed himself in music.
Despite low SoundCloud plays and discouraging comments from his peers, he kept making music. He knew that, at the time, his music was not good, but he kept getting better with each release. Omar didn’t have the money, so his friend offered him the $30 he needed.
