While filming Edge of Tomorrow, British actress Emily Blunt shared some unorthodox advice she received from co-star Tom Cruise. According to multiple news outlets, the 39-year-old actress has joined the edition of the SmartLess podcast, which will be released on December 12. She told hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett that Cruise told she “don’t pu**y” when she can’t work in greasy clothes.
“He just stood there staring at me, not knowing what to do, and then he said, ‘Come on, don’t be like that, okay?'”
Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise portray warriors trapped in a time loop who must protect Earth and humanity from invaders in Edge of Tomorrow. They have to wear loose clothes when performing heavy action scenes in sci-fi movies. While Tom Cruise is known for doing his own stunts, Emily Blunt is very new to the experience.
Emily Blunt needs a double stuntman. Because of her large amount of clothes
According to The Times, Emily Blunt said she felt uncomfortable on set while filming Edge of Tomorrow because her clothes were too heavy.
“We had to wear these massive clothes, I believe it would be nice if CGI did it, but we wanted to do it in a tactile way.” When you hear the term tactile, you think of something beautiful and pleasant; This dress is anything but. He weighs about 85 pounds. “The first time I put it on, I started crying and [Tom] I do not know what to do.”
She said Tom Cruise looked at her when she started crying because the clothes were so heavy.
“He just looked at me and said, ‘I know, I know,’” “Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this scene,” I said, sobbing. “I told her, ‘I’m a little nervous about the whole scene.'”
The Mission: Impossible actress then begged Blunt to pull her back, which ultimately helped her on set. Actor Mary Poppins also said male stuntmen were used instead of female because the clothes were too heavy to handle. Emily Blunt even injured herself while filming Edge of Tomorrow when the costume bruised her collarbone and ribs and is still “unfinished” eight years later.
In an interview with IndieWire in 2018, Blunt said that Tom Cruise offered her to appear in the Edge of Tomorrow sequel. The actress stated that the team approached her about appearing in the sequel, but she was too busy filming Mary Poppins at the time. However, she said that she would agree with the idea if the stars were aligned and they were all available at the same time.
