Former University of South Carolina track and field player DJ Park has died. Kelvin Roller, the Dillon High coach, revealed the details of his hospitalization before his death. On the other hand, Park’s sister reported his death on social media. She wrote about his leg injuries and blood clots, which caused him to lose his brain and eventually die. DJ Park was born Joseph Dijion Park on February 15, 1995.
He was a former University of South Carolina track and field lineman. In 2015, he was a newcomer to college football, playing offensive line for the first time. DJ Park then participated in 10 of 12 games, mostly on special teams, and received the Everyday Effort Award during the Garnet & Black game. Similarly, the footballer started his career in high school, where he excelled as a left winger and helped his team win the national title and other trophies. Then, when he got to college, he continued to improve for five years, handling various responsibilities on the offensive line. He reportedly graduated from college with a degree in criminal justice.

DJ Park passed away on Sunday and his sister Breana announced the news on her Facebook page. She posted on her Facebook page: “To know DJ/Joseph Park was to love him. I could write a book, but I’ll leave it at that for now. I will always miss you, but at least now you can rest in peace.” The soccer player’s sister, Breana Park, later revealed the reason for her death.
According to her, the sudden death of the US-born DJ is astonishing and hard to explain. She said her brother went to the hospital because his leg hurt and was swollen. The family assumed it was simply a muscle strain since he was ready to play football. But it turned out he had blood clots in his lungs, pelvis and leg veins. DJ decided to have surgery to remove the clots, which should have been safe. However, during the operation, the clot traveled to his heart, resulting in a heart attack. Doctors tried to correct this, but the drugs they administered caused his brain to bleed, resulting in catastrophic damage. This left him brainless. The soccer player was exceptional before that, he even played the drums in church that morning. She also added that they are still trying to find out why it happened.
