Tracey, Dowse’s sister, posted on Instagram at the time to reveal the official status of the Hawaiian in Honolulu. Tracey, the sister of the actress, announced her death on her personal Instagram page. In the post, she said:

I know that you are looking at us with all your love. I respectfully ask for your privacy and continued prayers. I will provide details of her birthday celebration later. I will keep you informed of all the news.”
Cause of Death of Denise Dowse
Denise Dowse was hospitalized earlier this month for complications from viral meningitis, which left her in a coma, as her sister noted in an Instagram post. This seems to be the most likely reason leading to the death of the actress. However, neither her sister nor other family members have publicly confirmed this. The most common type of infection, viral meningitis, can cause inflammation in several areas of the central nervous system. While the infection usually resolves by the body’s immune system without medical intervention, the disease can be fatal in certain age groups or immunocompromised people.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States:
“People with weakened immune systems due to illness, medications (such as chemotherapy), or recent organ or bone marrow transplants” are more susceptible to meningitis infections. They also mention that the disease can seriously affect children under the age of five or infants less than a month old whose immune systems are still developing.
They also stated:
“In the United States, non-polio enterovirus is the most common cause of viral meningitis. Meningitis affects only a small percentage of people infected with enteroviruses.”
The aforementioned evidence suggests that Denise Dowse’s immune system was weakened, which may have contributed to her death at the age of 64. It remains unclear whether the actress had any other problems in the background.
