DD Lapang or Dr. Donva Dethvelson Lapang is an Indian politician who is the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. He has served on this post four times in his political career. He was born on 10 April 1934 in Nongjri village, Ri Bhoi, Meghalaya, India. He is 84 years old.

He is 5′ 6″ tall and weighs 80 kg. He has black eyes and black hair.
Education and Career
He did his schooling from Shillong Government High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Anthony’s College, Shillong. From a very young age, he started working with his mother at her tea shop. After this he worked as a road labourer. Before becoming a politician he did many jobs. He worked as a school teacher for 5 years. He also worked for the Assam Civil Secretariat and then got promoted to Lower Division Assistant as a typist. He also worked as Sub-Inspector of Schools for 10 years. After this he joined politics by contesting Legislative Assembly elections from Nongpoh LA constituency in 1972 and also won as MLA. After this he remained the Chief Minister of Meghalaya four times. In September 2018, he resigned from the Congress Party alleging that the Indian National Congress does not treat senior party members well.

He was born in a poor family. His father Donava War was a tailor and his mother owned a tea shop. His father passed away when he was only 5 years old. After his father’s death, he used to help his mother in her tea shop. He married Amethyst Linda Jomes Blah, a journalist, in 1958. He has a son and a daughter.
