A lot of fans were shocked when HBO revealed that The Idol would be ending with just five episodes in its first season, instead of the planned six.
In a new interview, one of the stars – Da’Vine Joy Randolph – isn’t worried about the shortened season, nor the future of the series at all.
In fact, Da’Vine says that a season 2 is still quite a possibility.

Speaking to Deadline, Da’Vine said that she “absolutely think there’s a season two. I’m not saying it’s official, but there’s definitely a whole vast world that could be developed.”
She reiterated her comments again, in an interview with Variety.
She said that “everyone’s intention is to have a second season.” She added: “This was never intended to be a limited series. Nothing is official, but HBO is quite happy.”
Da’Vine then spoke about what she’d like to see in the next season, telling PopSugar that an exploration of “Jocelyn and Tedros’s relationship now at this new form and what that’s like.”
“I think you would see more and more of the fact that Tedros actually is quite talented. I could easily see him perhaps even joining the team in some way, shape, or form.”
