When Kane Brown welcomed his daughter, he vowed to be the father she never had: Her biological father was sent to prison when Brown was young, and her stepfather was abusive. “I’m excited,” Kane told ABC News. “You know, my wife and I are in this together, and I can be the father I never had.”

Growing up without a father doesn’t mean Kane was without guidance in life: his mother, grandmother, and aunt raised him to be the fine young man he is today.
Kane and his mother moved around a lot when he was young.
Kane was born on October 21, 1993 and grew up in Tennessee. She had a European-American mother, Tabatha Brown, and an African-American father with Cherokee roots. In his early years, Kane thought he was white and didn’t learn he was biracial until he was 8 years old. he told her People:
“I thought it was completely white, which I honestly can’t even tell because I didn’t see colors. I found out I was biracial and I wasn’t thinking about any of that yet, but then I started calling myself the N-word. I didn’t even know what it meant, and that’s when it started to get to me. I fought for that when I was little.”
Brown dealt with insults among his peers and at home suffered physical abuse from his stepfather. He revealed it in a song titled Learning that when he was six years old, his stepfather almost beat him to death because he wet the bed. Kane’s detective grandmother came to the rescue and put her abusive stepfather in jail.
Sometimes Kane and his single mother would sleep in their car as they moved around Georgia looking for work. Kane’s grandparents occasionally offered shelter to Kane and his mother. As a result, Kane’s grandparents played a crucial role in raising the future star. brown said country now:
“I had my grandparents and grandmothers that were around here, but I was raised mostly by women, and they taught me to be a southern gentleman.”

“My mom worked multiple jobs and my Nana was actually a sheriff in my town. Being able to honor them is amazing because no matter how much we fought, my mom and Nana never let me see it. They protected me from any trouble and I appreciate them for that.”
