Davinder Singh Davinder Singh – Davinder Singh is a former Indian Police Officer and DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) of Jammu and Kashmir. Davinder Singh was in the news due to his arrest on January 11, 2020, along with “most wanted” militants in the southern Kashmir town of Kulgam (Mir Bazar).

According to a South Kashmir Police officer, the vehicle (a Hyundai i10 car) in which the militants and DSP Davinder Sigh were traveling was intercepted based on a specific entry. There was a mention in the entry that a high-ranking militant was in the car. However, the report does not mention a police officer accompanying the militants in the car.

Davinder Singh – Awards

Davinder Singh had a strong track record in counter-militancy operations and was awarded the Bravery Award in 2017. He was reportedly one of 76 Jammu and Kashmir policemen to be awarded the President’s Police Medal on Jammu Independence Day and Kashmir. India in 2019.

Shah then informed the then Jammu and Kashmir Police Director General that the hijackers were counter-insurgents who had received AK-47 rifles from none other than Davinder Singh. However, at the time, no action was taken against Singh.

In another case, an FIR for ‘extortion’ was filed against Singh in response to a complaint from a businessman; however, the investigation was never completed. Davinder Singh’s name was in the news again in 2001, when he was serving as deputy superintendent of the special operations group in the Budgam district of central Kashmir.

He was transferred as a result of widespread public outrage over deaths in custody. Singh’s name was listed in an FIR in 2015 for allegedly extorting ordinary people and falsely implicating them in police cases.
