Ellie Breaux was born to a black father and a white mother in Houston, Texas. She grew up with two younger brothers: Gabe, a football player, and Edyn, a college basketball player.
The pageant queen said she would use her platform to promote her ‘Police in the Community’ initiative, which seeks to foster relations between police officers and the community. “My goal is for our children to see police officers as heroes instead of adversaries,” she said, according to WFAA.
Ellie grew up surrounded by police: her father, uncle and cousin are members of the police. “I come from a family of police officers, and there is such a lack of communication between police officers and their communities and I am really trying to close that gap so that we can unite Texas and ultimately unite America,” she said. .
Ellie wrote on Instagram on October 5, 2022 that she was initially hesitant to launch a pro-law enforcement initiative at the height of the anti-police movement in 2020. However, having grown up among police officers and seen its positive impact on the community, launched the initiative. Ellie wrote:
“I had doubts about the reaction I would receive. But as the daughter, niece and cousin of a Houston police officer, I couldn’t bear to continue to witness the growing divide between our police and our neighborhoods. I have a unique opportunity to be the bridge that our law enforcement and our communities need to heal.”
