Comedian Elayne Boosler Allegedly Handcuffed and Arrested at Los Angeles Dodgers Game

Elayne Boosler, a famous comedian and writer, was allegedly handcuffed and arrested at a recent Los Angeles Dodgers game.

Boosler, who attended a Dodgers game on Sunday, posted a video about her experience being arrested.

“I don’t know how Sunday went, but I bet you it was better than mine,” he said in a YouTube video posted a day ago. “Here are my wrists after being handcuffed for two hours at Dodgers Stadium. That’s right, they arrested me.”

He showed the camera his apparently bruised wrists and then mentioned that he didn’t realize that all bags allowed in the stadium had to be clean.

“I was so excited to bring my new baseball bag to the stadium, which is so adorable,” she said, holding a baseball-themed bag. She then noticed that the bag was only ten inches long. “It’s nothing, and there’s nothing in it.”

Security apparently told him he should take the bag to the car or throw it away. She then started arguing with the staff.

“We paid $50 to park a mile away, it’s 80 degrees, and the tickets were $300 on the secondary market, and nowhere did I see it say it had to be a clear bag,” he told them. “You should let me in.”

When they still didn’t give up, she went on to list all the ways she had supported and contributed to the stadium.

“I’ve sung the anthem here five times, I’ve been in the booth 50 times, I’ve done everything extra that a comedian can do for Dodger Stadium,” he argued. “I played in the Hollywood All-Star game 10 times. “Let me come in with the bag.”

Still, he did not have security.

After the back-and-forth between Boosler and stadium staff, things “got heated,” he said.

“I lost an F-bomb, but everything was quiet,” he said. “And, unfortunately, the guy at the door was that kind of guy with just a little bit of power… and that’s the most dangerous thing: guys with a little bit of power.”

Boosler claimed he was with his nephew and eight-year-old son, who at that point began crying. The staff let the children in, but warned Boosler that they would arrest her for trespassing if she did not cooperate or leave.

“I said, ‘How could I be trespassing with a $300 fine in my pocket?’”

Then he relented with, “Fine, arrest me.” And that’s exactly what they did. However, he noted that the police officers were friendly (and acknowledged white privilege).

Still, they didn’t seem to enjoy his jokes. When told that she would have a record after being arrested, she said, “Oh no, I won’t be able to vote! But I will be able to run.”

Then he agreed to leave (in a patrol car).

“What a shame, Dodgers Stadium,” he concluded at the end of his video. “What a shame. You know how I am. I’ve done so much free work for you for decades, and even if it wasn’t me… for someone to be treated like that is so horrible.”

On the YouTube video, many commenters questioned why Boosler thought he was above the rules or should receive special treatment.
