Death
On May 16, 2022, she went to a clinic called Dr. Shetty Cosmetic Surgery Centre, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka for liposuction surgery. After the surgery, he faced various complications and fluid started accumulating in his lungs. His surgery was performed by anesthetist Melvin and his team of doctors. After this the team took Chetna to Kade Hospital Unit in Bengaluru, Karnataka and asked the doctors there to treat Chetna like a cardiac arrest patient. CPR was given to her at Kade Hospital, but she could not survive. In a police complaint, Dr Sandeep, ICU intensivist at Kade Hospital, said,
Chetna was declared dead at 6.45 pm. Doctors at Shetty’s Cosmetic Center knew that Chetna had already passed away.
When journalists talked to Chetna’s father about this incident, he said,
My daughter was healthy and well. She was absolutely fine. She had gone to the hospital with her friends. Someone suggested to her that she had excess fat on her waist and that she had come for surgery without consulting any family member. I will initiate legal action against the hospital authorities.
Speaking to reporters his mother said,
Shetty Clinic is the reason for my daughter’s death. They told us that we do not have ICU, please take him to Kade Hospital for ICU after 4 pm. They took him inside at 9 am. Well, he didn’t tell us anything. Whenever we asked him about the surgery, he told us whether it would be 5 minutes or 30 minutes and kept dragging it on. “They finally told us it happened.”
