Chandro Tomar was an Indian professional sharpshooter. She was said to be the world’s oldest sharpshooter. He had won more than 30 national championships. On 30 April 2021, he died after battling COVID-19.

Wiki/Biography and Career
Chandro Tomar was born in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh on Friday, 1 January 1932 (age 89 years at the time of death). His zodiac sign is Capricorn. She came from a family with an agricultural background and was married at the age of 15. She lived in Johari village of Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh. Tomar never received formal education. She chose shooting as her career when she was 65 years old. In 1999, his granddaughter Shefali wanted to learn shooting and decided to enroll at Johari Rifle Club. Shefali felt shy going to the boys’ shooting club alone and asked Tomar to accompany her. One day, when his granddaughter Shefali was not able to load the rifle, Tomar came forward to help her and fired at the target. His first short resulted in a bull’s eye hit. Club coach Farooq Pathan was amazed by his skills and suggested him to join the club and receive proper training. On his advice, Chandro received extensive training for 2 years and participated in many state level and national level shooting championships.
He won a silver medal in his first North Zone Championship. Since 1999, Tomar has participated and won more than 30 national competitions across India. He won the gold medal in the Veteran Shooting Championship held in Chennai. In 2016, Chandro competed in her last event in Delhi and won a bronze medal. After 2016, Tomar continued coaching youth, addressing meetings and inaugurating various sports institutions.
Tomar has been featured on “Satyamev Jayate,” “India’s Got Talent,” and History TV’s “OMG!” It was also shown in various TV shows including. This is my India.”
In 2019, a film titled ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ was made by Tushar Hiranandani based on the biography of Tomar and his sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar. Bollywood actresses Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar played the roles of Chandro and Prakashi in the film. The film was declared tax free in Delhi and Rajasthan.

Chandro Tomar belonged to a Jat family. His brother was in the army. Her husband’s name is Bhor Singh. He had three sons and three daughters. All his daughters have learned shooting and have participated in shooting championships at international level. Tomar had 15 grandchildren. His granddaughter Shefali Tomar is an international shooter. His niece, Seema, is also a sharpshooter; Who became the first Indian woman to win a medal in the Rifle and Pistol World Cup in 2010. Death
On 30 April 2021, he died after battling COVID-19. On April 26, 2021, he was admitted to a hospital in Meerut after complaining of difficulty in breathing. After Chandro’s death, his sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar wrote on her Twitter page,

- Initially, her husband neither supported nor opposed her passion for shooting, but when she excelled in her field, her husband encouraged her and other family members as well.

- In October 2019, Chandro along with her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar went to a multiplex in Baraut, Uttar Pradesh to watch the first show of her film. There was a huge crowd in the theater and both were demanding to take selfies with them.
