Caitlin Clark lands huge deal with Nike worth $28 million

WNBA star Caitlin Clark has been in the league for less than a month and is already making waves. After a legendary career at the University of Iowa, Clark is now breaking barriers as a professional.

Clark just signed a $28 million deal with sneaker giant Nike. And he gets better. Rumor has it she will also get her own exclusive shoe as part of the endorsement deal.

Caitlin Clark had multiple suitors

Clark’s deal isn’t missing any dollar signs, either. Nike endorsed Brinks’ truck and signed him to a lucrative eight-year contract that will pay him $28 million. But the Indiana Fever star had other suitors. However, he was not offered as much money as Nike.

“Adidas sent Clark some shoes and even prepared an exclusive prototype model for him. But Adidas’ offer fell well short of the mark: $6 million over four years,” the Wall Street Journal wrote.

“In the end, the closest contender for Nike was Under Armour, a company whose highest-profile ambassador turns out to be another far-reaching phenomenon. When Under Armor made the proposal to Clark, Stephen Curry was involved, according to The Athletic. The offer was $16 million over four years, with an exclusive shoe.”

Clark had one of the best college basketball careers in history. Men or women. And it’s possible that she could have established herself as the greatest college basketball player of all time if she had won the championship. But coach Dawn Staley and the University of South Carolina thwarted her plans after defeating Iowa in the National Championship.

In a recent interview with news analyst Gayle King, King mentions that most people were rooting for Iowa to win because of Clark. However, NBA champion Stephen Jackson took issue with that claim.

“So Gayle King is supposed to be someone important in the journalism space, right? And I don’t consider her half black. She gets all these passes because she’s Oprah’s friend. I don’t give a damn who she’s friends with,” Jackson said via her social media account.

“But you can’t degrade Dawn Staley like that. You’re talking to her about winning the championship, about going undefeated. And you have the nerve to say, ‘We were rooting for Caitlin Clark and you broke everyone’s hearts.’
