Actor Bill Murray was fired again, this time due to new allegations of workplace misconduct. Several celebrities, including Geena Davis, Seth Green and Rob Schneider, have recently spoken out against the Ghostbusters actor. Green recalled an incident that happened to Murray when Murray was 9 years old during an appearance on YouTube’s Good Mythical Morning. Green described the event on the set of the SNL Christmas holiday episode hosted by Murray:
“[Murray] he saw me sitting on the back of this chair and made a big fuss about taking his place. ‘That’s funny,’ I thought. I am sitting on the couch. This sofa is available in different lengths. Get out of here, please.’ And he said, “That’s my chair.”
Green’s mother asked her son to get up from Murray’s chair, but Murray refused. Murray allegedly held Green “upside down” and threw him in the trash shortly after the verbal argument:
“He grabbed my ankles and lifted me up. I was upside down… He hung me on the trash can and said: ‘Garbage put in the trash’.”
Seth Green continued:
“I yelled, waved, struggled violently, making full contact with his leg.” He threw me in the trash, and the trash was emptied. I was socked. I ran, huddled under the dressing room table and screamed.”
The new allegation comes after production on Bill Murray’s next film Being Mortal was reportedly halted following complaints of “inappropriate conduct” directed at the actor.
Charges against Bill Murray
Following Seth Green’s new allegations of misconduct against Bill Murray, several celebrities have made similar claims. In her book Dying of Politeness, actress Geena Davis describes her experience working with Murray on the 1990 film Quick Change. According to The New York Times, Davis said Murray scolded her for being late to the show. while waiting to change:
“It was terrible. The way he behaved on the first meeting… I should have walked away or defended myself fiercely, in which case I wouldn’t have gotten the part.”
She continued to say:
“If I had known how to answer or what to do at the audition, I could have avoided such treatment.” But, you know, I was so indifferent that I didn’t.
Davis also stated in her bio that Murray insists she used the “massage machine” against her will:
“I told him not many times, but he didn’t listen. In order for him to stop trying to force me to do it, I had to scream at him and create a commotion, the others in the room. don’t do anything to stop it.”
Davis expressed guilt over blaming his younger self for the events Murray caused:
“It makes no sense to regret anything, but here I am.” And, absolutely, it’s not my fault.”
Similarly, actor Rob Schneider has stated that when Bill Murray hosts NBC’s Saturday Night Live, he “completely despises” the cast. Schneider railed against Murray on SiriusXM’s The Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show, saying:
“I won’t name the director, but ‘Bill Murray is coming and he’s going to modify the language.'” He’ll change things for the better, but you never know who you’ll get. Which Bill Murray will you get? Bill Murray, good guy? Or will you meet a tough Bill Murray?’”
He also said that while Murray was nice to the fans, he wasn’t nice to his co-workers:
“He’s been very good to the fans.” He wasn’t very nice to us… When he hosted Saturday Night Live, he looked down on us. They completely despised us. I mean, angry.”
Schneider also said that Bill Murray despised the late Chris Farley:
“He looks down on Chris Farley with an attitude of revenge. Looking at him, he seemed angry. I’m not sure why, but I like to think it’s because Chris feels great about being Belushi who [was] his friend died, that he thought it was good to lose control like that.”
However, the comic explains that Murray’s hatred for Farley can be attributed to his own interpretation:
“That’s my interpretation, but I’m not sure.” I do not think so. “I only believe it 50%.”
According to Schneider, Murray looks down on Adam Sandler:
“He’s not in the mood for it, you know?” And Sandler was really dedicated to it, and you could watch the audience gobble it up as soon as he got on the pitch.”
In addition to Schneider’s allegations, SNL producer Lorne Michaels recently revealed details of the feud between Bill Murray and Chevy Chase during the show’s season. Speaking on the Fly on the Wall podcast with Dan Carvey and David Spade, Michaels said:
“They quarreled. And John [Belushi] it tickled him a little bit. It’s partly my fault that I brought Chevy back into the family after he’s been gone for a season and a half, but it makes sense. They fought in front of the counter, and Chevy was forced to give a monologue.”
Anjelica Huston told Vulture a few years ago that Bill Murray sexually abused her while filming Life Aquatic: Evolution.
“He was an asshole to me at Life Aquatic. The first week I was there, we were all in this little hotel, and he invited everyone but me to dinner.”
She continued:
“They all came to dinner, a little confused by my absence, and they all said, ‘Oh, you know, we really don’t want to leave.'” That was the worst. “
Despite their previous relationship, Huston later grew up recognizing Murray at her husband’s funeral. Bill Murray also made headlines in 2000 for his feud with his Charlie’s Angels co-star Lucy Liu. Last year, Liu told the Los Angeles Times’ Asian Enough podcast that Murray insulted her while she was working on a scene that had to be remade:
“While we were shooting that scene, Bill started swearing, I won’t go into the details, but it just kept going.” ‘Well, he seems to be looking right at me,’ I thought. I can not believe it [the remarks] were all aimed at me, because I had nothing to do with anything important at the time?”
Liu said some of Murray’s rhetoric was “unforgivable and disrespectful,” but she now doesn’t regret speaking out.

Although Murray has not responded to the latest allegations, he did address allegations of misconduct by the Being Mortal production team in April. According to the actor, CNBC:
“I did something that I thought was hilarious, but it wasn’t so well received.” The corporation and studio wanted to do the right thing, so they stopped production to check and investigate. But now we are talking and trying to reconcile.”
While the emotions of the Internet continue to flow, it is unclear whether Bill Murray will address the new charges against him in the coming days.
