Ben Affleck and Matt Damon made money when they sold goodwill huntingbut they spent it almost as fast as they did.
The best friends co-wrote the 1997 film, which they starred in during the early days of their careers.
In a recent interview, Ben revealed how much they were paid for the script. He also surprised fans by sharing how quickly they spent it and what the money bought.

Meanwhile The Drew Barrymore ShowBen broke down his big payday to introduce Drew Barrymore.
“We sell [the movie] for $600,000. We split that $300,000 each, and then the agents got $30,000. So we had $270,000 and we paid about $160,000 in taxes. So we had $110,000,” Ben revealed. “They each bought a $55,000 Jeep Cherokee and then had $55,000 left over.”
He went on, explaining what they did with the remaining money. “Naturally, we decided to rent a $5,000-a-month party house on Glencoe Way, near the Hollywood Bowl, and we were broke in six months,” she admitted.
Ben didn’t expect it to be like this at all.
“When we sold goodwill hunting, I was like ‘Now we are rich for life’. My needs are over. I will never have to go back to work. I’m rich forever,’” she recalled.
He and Matt did everything together at the beginning of their career. They even shared a bank account and lived together. They recently revealed which of the two was an incredibly messy roommate.
